Data export.
Our promise.
Exporting your data is free, included on the free tier, and will never move behind a paywall. Your data is yours. We are caretakers, not owners.
Under GDPR Article 20 (right to data portability) you have the right to receive a copy of the personal data we hold about you in a structured, commonly-used, machine-readable format. We have implemented this in-app in three formats so you can take your data wherever it needs to go.
What's included.
- Account profile, email, display name, sign-up date, subscription history.
- Logged meals, every food entry with timestamp, portion, food identifier, and full nutrient breakdown at the time of logging.
- Custom foods, all foods you have created, with their full nutrient profiles.
- Custom meals, reusable meal structures and their components.
- Body data, weight, body measurements, water intake, mood notes (only the categories you have used).
- Targets & preferences, your daily targets, ED-aware mode settings, notification preferences.
- Plant variety log, the unique plants you have logged each week.
- HealthKit/wearable history, data we have read in to compute activity calories (we hold this only briefly for charting; the canonical record stays in HealthKit/your wearable account).

How to export.
Inside the App
- Open Settings → Data → Export.
- Choose your format (PDF, CSV, or plain text).
- Optionally pick a date range.
- Tap Generate export. The file is built on-device and offered via the iOS share sheet.
By email
If you have lost access to the App or prefer email, write to [email protected] from the address on your account. We will identify you and email a signed export within 30 days, in line with GDPR Article 12(3).
Formats.
Human-readable. Best for handing to a dietitian or printing for a clinical visit. Includes summaries, daily breakdowns, and a chart appendix.
CSV
Machine-readable. One file per data category (meals.csv, weights.csv, customfoods.csv, etc.) inside a single .zip. Best for spreadsheets or migrating to another tracker.
Plain text (JSON)
Developer-readable. A single JSON document with the full schema, suitable for programmatic re-import elsewhere. The schema is documented in our data export schema reference.
Timing.
In-app exports are generated immediately, typically in under 5 seconds for a year of data. Email-based exports are processed within 30 days, usually within 48 hours.
If we cannot fulfil a request in 30 days, we will inform you of the reason and the extension we need (GDPR Article 12(3) permits up to a 60-day extension for complex requests).
Account deletion.
Exporting and deleting are separate actions. Export anywhere, then, if you wish, delete:
- Settings → Account → Delete account.
- Confirm with your password (or Sign in with Apple).
- Your data is wiped from production servers immediately and from backups within 7 days.
- After 7 days, recovery is not possible.
We retain only the records we are legally required to keep (typically subscription invoices for 7 years, anonymised), as detailed in our Privacy Policy.
